Sexual predator enters release program
Leroy Hendricks, the first man confined as a
sexual predator in Kansas, moved to Leavenworth County in a supervised release
program Wednesday afternoon.
Hendricks, 70, will live in a rural house with “nursing home-type care” under
24-hour supervision, said Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation
Services spokesman Mike Deines. Officials will not give out Hendricks’ new
address. He will not be on the state’s public sex-offender registry because his
crimes were committed before 1994.
Hendricks can leave for supervised outings and work toward less supervision.
Hendricks’ history of sex crimes dates from the 1950s to 1984, when he was
charged with taking indecent liberties with a child.
