Sexual predator accused of raping 5-year-old girl
A 43-year-old registered sexual predator was
arrested yesterday after he was accused of taking a 5-year-old girl into his
home and sexually assaulting her, police said.
James Eugene Martin, of 2046 Price St., was charged with rape, kidnapping, and
gross sexual imposition. He was being held in the Lucas County jail pending
arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court.
Sgt. George Kral said the incident happened about three weeks ago, but the girl
didn't tell her grandmother until Sunday. The grandmother contacted authorities.
The girl was playing outside, chasing a neighbor's dog, when a man picked her
up, took her to his house, and assaulted her. Afterward, the girl was allowed to
leave, Sergeant Kral said.
